Key components and equipment technology of energy-saving green adsorption materials for industrial volatile organic compounds treatment

Published:2024-10-30  09:49

The volatile organic compounds emitted by the manufacturing processes of domestic semiconductor, optoelectronics or other industries pollute the environment, and the required environmental protection equipment faces the problems of high cost and energy consumption. Hence, NARI refined activated alumina from the waste of the aluminum smelting industry. Its purity exceeds 99%. Based on commercially available adsorbents, the energy saving rate exceeds 15%. It is then made into activated alumina adsorbent (as shown in Figures 1) for volatile organic compounds and additive manufactured alumina ceramic heat storage bricks (as shown in Figures 2), so the aluminum smelting slag is recycled, and the problems of high cost imported adsorption materials, waste landfills and carbon dioxide emissions are solved. Furthermore, regenerative combustion and adsorption concentration integration procedures are developed for energy saving and waste heat recovery (as shown in Figures 3). Its heat recovery efficiency exceeds 96% and the volatile organic compound removal efficiency exceeds 98%, so combustion efficiency is increased and energy consumption are lowered.

【Project Planning/Technical Applications】
NARI develops low-energy-consuming adsorption materials for volatile organic compounds produced by industrial processes and adsorption-concentration equipment required for the treatment of emissions to improve the energy efficiency of environmental control and exhaust treatment equipment. The contribution to energy conservation, carbon reduction and air pollution prevention and the benefits of industrial development are lifted for the goal of energy conservation and industrial development. NARI is executing the technology transferring. Besides, NARI is also completing the system integration and field testing verification with technical served company. The improvements and durability tests are undertaken in application fields with the industry to accumulate technical energy and increase equipment performance. After adjusting parameters, this technology will be promoted and applied domestically and abroad.

【Future Development】
The energy-saving and environmentally friendly technologies for semiconductor, optoelectronics, chemical industry and other industries are continuously developed at NARI. Activities of attending exhibitions and holding forums are done every year for promotion, meanwhile Fu Ho Ceramics Company is contacted for field test. Currently, companies including the material recycling industry, environmental protection equipment industry, Energy Service Company and end users (Fu Ho Ceramics Company, TSMC and UMC) are contracted. At least one domestic manufacturer is contracted with NARI for technology transferred every year. Also, it is expected that the foreign markets are extended in three years.
